System Design Trade-offs Beyond the Device

Wed. October 31| 11:00 AM - 11:45 AM | 208C

Conference: ESC Minneapolis 2018

Track: ESC Track C: IoT & Connected Devices

Format: 45-Minute

Pass Type: Conference Pass (Paid)

A connected or IoT device operates within a larger system. Choices must be made in the overall system architecture which have significant effects on the device development, operation, supportability, and cost. Choices like where to perform function, interfaces, logging, etc. This session will lay out principles for the design trade-offs and resource allocation choices. But the these principles need grounding or they will be too abstract for application, so the presentation will provide field tested examples to anchor the principles.
