Sensor Design with Bluetooth 5 Mesh Technology

Wed. October 31| 2:00 PM - 2:45 PM | 208B

Conference: ESC Minneapolis 2018

Track: ESC Track A: Embedded Hardware Design & Verification

Format: 45-Minute

Pass Type: Conference Pass (Paid)

In 2017 the Bluetooth Special Interest (SIG) group ratified V1.0 of the Bluetooth V5 specification. Bluetooth 5 introduces a new mesh networking mode along with some interesting data rate and range extensions. Chipset vendors have also released silicon and software development kits to support the new protocol. The availability of this new specification and low cost hardware has enabled some interesting sensor network applications.

In this session you will be introduced to what is new in the Bluetooth 5 spec and the available hardware. Specifically, we will look at the new behaviors of the mesh specification and how it will affect your hardware designs. The session will include real-world test data with commercially available tools, and will conclude with an onsite demonstration.
